Pierre loved food. While he wasn’t allowed table scraps, he sure got his fair share.
A few examples:
- He figured out how to get on our high top kitchen table and ate a 1# bag of M&Ms. He got a stomach pump for that
- He ate a bag of apples off the table at grandma and grandpa’s
- He found the popcorn cheese
- Cream-cheese frosted pumpkin bars were a Thanksgiving treat worthy of Pierre
Pierre served as the scout for his brother and partner in crime, Jacques. You can see this at work in the picture above. He would come, politely, scout for food wherever it may be found. This could be on someone’s plate, on the table, or elsewhere. If something was found, Pierre would get his first, but would send was some sort of inaudible signal to his brother. Only after receiving this signal, would his brother leave his position lurking in the background.
Tomato
We have a vegetable garden. The fences there are made to keep Pierre out. He absolutely loved eating tomatoes. He knew that he wasn’t allowed, so during tomato season, he would carefully watch to see when he was being observed. As soon as no one was looking, he’d run as fast as he could to the garden. This year, when the garden was taken down for the season, Pierre spent a solid hour circling the garden looking for the last tomatoes.
P.S. What you see here is a red tomato. There is conflicting advice about whether unripe tomatoes are poisonous. Be careful.
